English as a Second Language volunteers at FreeGeek Columbus

Students of the English as a Second Language program at The Ohio State University visited FreeGeek Columbus today to participate in a service learning opportunity. The ESL students learned about FreeGeek Columbus, got some hands-on time disassembling PCs and installing Ubuntu GNU/Linux, and had an excellent opportunity to practice their conversational English skills with native speakers. Everyone had a good time! We had a total of seven ESL students participate, and all of them said that they learned a lot, and enjoyed the experience. The students asked excellent questions about Linux, Free Software, the FreeGeek Columbus mission, and computers in general.

Special thanks to Chris Hill for coordinating this event with his students. FreeGeek Columbus looks forward to doing this again next quarter!
